A gentle, chemical-free spray using essential oils and apple cider vinegar to deter fleas and ticks. Safe for use on dogs and around the home — no synthetic pesticides, no harsh residues.
What You Need
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar (raw, with the mother)
- 1 cup water
- 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
- 8 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 tsp neem oil
Method
- Combine all ingredients in a glass spray bottle and shake well to emulsify.
- Shake before each use as the oils will separate.
- Spray lightly over your dog's coat, avoiding eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Use your fingers or a comb to work the spray through the fur down to the skin.
- Apply before outdoor walks and reapply every 3–4 hours in heavy tick areas.
- Spray bedding, fabric furniture, and entry points around the home as a preventative.
Tips & Notes
- Do NOT use on cats — many essential oils, including peppermint, are toxic to cats.
- Test on a small patch of skin first to check for sensitivity.
- Neem oil has a strong earthy smell — reduce to 1/2 tsp if your dog is sensitive to it.
- Store out of direct sunlight and use within 2 weeks.
