Meaty halibut steaks grilled until perfectly charred and served with a bright, fresh mango salsa. A stunning summer dish that is naturally dairy-free and takes less than 30 minutes.
What You Need
- 4 halibut fillets or steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- MANGO SALSA: 1 ripe mango diced, ½ red onion finely diced, 1 jalapeño seeded and minced, juice of 1 lime, ¼ cup cilantro chopped, salt to taste
Method
- Make the salsa: combine all salsa ingredients in a bowl. Let sit 15 minutes for flavours to meld.
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high. Brush halibut with olive oil and season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Grill halibut 3–4 minutes per side until grill marks form and fish is opaque throughout.
- Serve immediately topped with mango salsa.
Tips & Notes
- Halibut is a firm, meaty fish that holds up beautifully on the grill — it will not fall apart like flakier fish.
- The mango salsa can be made a day ahead and refrigerated.
