A warm, calming nightly tonic built around ashwagandha root — a classic adaptogen used to help the body build resilience to stress over time and ease into rest at the end of the day.
What You Need
- 1 cup milk of choice (dairy, oat, or almond)
- ½ tsp ashwagandha root powder
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom (optional)
- Honey or maple syrup to taste
- Pinch of black pepper (improves absorption)
Method
- Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat — do not let it boil.
- Whisk in the ashwagandha powder, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper until fully combined.
- Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes, whisking occasionally.
- Remove from heat, sweeten with honey or maple syrup to taste, and pour into a mug.
- Drink about 30–60 minutes before bed.
Tips & Notes
- Ashwagandha is an adaptogen — it works best with consistent daily use over several weeks rather than as a one-off remedy.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and it can interact with thyroid medication, sedatives, and immune-suppressing drugs — check with a healthcare provider before regular use if any of these apply to you.
- Stop use about 2 weeks before any scheduled surgery.
