A deeply nourishing infusion rather than a light tea — nettle and oat straw are packed with bioavailable minerals like iron, calcium, and magnesium. Drink this daily as a gentle tonic for energy, hair and nail strength, and overall vitality.
What You Need
- 2 parts dried nettle leaf
- 2 parts dried oat straw (milky oat tops)
- 1 part dried red raspberry leaf (optional, for extra mineral support)
Method
- Combine the herbs and store in a labeled glass jar.
- To make a nourishing infusion: use 1 heaping tablespoon per cup of water, or 1 cup dried herb per quart water for a full jar.
- Pour boiling water over the herbs and cover tightly.
- Steep for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight, to fully extract the minerals — this is a long steep by design.
- Strain and drink warm or cold. Refrigerate leftovers and use within 2 days.
Tips & Notes
- This is an infusion, not a quick tea — the long steep time is what pulls the minerals out of the plant material.
- Nettle can have a mild diuretic effect; drink extra water alongside it.
- Try it iced with a squeeze of lemon in summer — it tastes almost like a light green tea.
