This gentle, deeply calming blend is for nervous tension, anxiety, poor sleep, and digestive cramping. Chamomile is one of the most clinically validated herbs for anxiety and sleep. Lavender adds an additional nervine and aromatic quality. Together, they are remarkably effective.
What You Need
- 2 parts dried chamomile flowers
- 1 part dried lavender flowers (culinary grade)
- 1 part dried lemon balm leaf
- Optional: ½ part dried passionflower leaf for deeper relaxation
- Honey to sweeten
Method
- Mix herbs together and store in a labeled glass jar.
- To brew: Use 1 rounded teaspoon per cup of water.
- Boil water and let it cool 30 seconds (around 205°F). Do not pour boiling water directly on delicate flowers — it destroys volatile oils.
- Cover while steeping — the steam carries away the essential oils you want. Use a lid or small plate.
- Steep 10–15 minutes for a therapeutic dose. (Most people under-steep herbal tea.)
- Strain, sweeten with honey if desired, and drink mindfully.
- Therapeutic dose: 2–3 cups daily, or 1 strong cup 30 minutes before bed.
Tips & Notes
- People with ragweed allergy may react to chamomile — start with a small amount.
- This blend is safe for children at appropriate doses (½ adult dose for ages 5–12).
- Brew a strong batch, strain, and refrigerate for 3 days for iced tea.
